Study on the optical and electrochemical performance of V2O5 with various morphologies
The morphology of V2O5 has an important influence on its optical properties and electrochemical performance. Herein, four types of vanadium pentoxide structures such as nanowires, layer-by-layer, solid spheres and hollow spheres, were prepared by the combination of the hydrothermal synthesis and calcinations. Various techniques including FT-IR, UV-vis and Raman were used to measure the optical properties. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD) measurements were used to evaluate the electrochemical properties of the samples. The optimal electrochemical performance was obtained from V2O5 hollow spheres. The experimental results indicated that nanowires exhibited higher transmittance in the near-IR region and V2O5 hollow spheres were an ideal electrode material for supercapacitors.
