Convenient and highly efficient microwave-assisted synthesis of 2-Arylimidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine-3-carbaldehydes in glycerol

A simple and highly efficient method adopted for the synthesis of 2-Arylimidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine-3-carbaldehyde from reaction of 2-phenylimidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidines, with (Vilsmeier–Haack reagent) in the presence of glycerol as a green reaction medium under microwave irradiation at 400 watt, at 90 °C. Mild reaction conditions, high yield, short reaction time, a clean reaction profile, avoiding toxic catalysts, hazardous organic solvents, and less waste materials are the advantages over the previously adopted method.
