Vinyl-tris(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)silane (VTTFEOS) has been prepared by the alcoholysis of vinyltrichlorosilane with 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol, and an orthogonal design method has been used to determine the key factors affecting the yield of the product. Results indicate that the yield is significantly influenced by the molar ratio of the feedstocks and the condensation temperature. VTTFEOS was purified by means of vacuum distillation and its structure was characterized by 1H, 13C, and 19F NMR spectrometries, FTIR spectroscopy, and GC-MS. The densities and the refractive indices of VTTFEOS at 20 and 25 °C are reported.
