The combustion of nitrogen compounds in fuel remains a serious challenge due to its negative impact on public health and environments. Herein, an effective pyridine imprinted polymer (poly 4-vinyl aniline-co-DVB) was developed for the selective adsorption of pyridine, a basic nitrogen compound in fuels. The adsorption performance of the imprinted poly 4-vinyl aniline-co-DVB was determined. Imprinted poly 4-vinyl aniline-co-DVB gave an adsorption capacity of 30.2 mg/g for the removal of pyridine in model fuel. This work provides practical potential application of poly 4-vinyl aniline-co-DVB for the removal of pyridine, a nitrogen compound found in fuel oils.
